Depreciation - Timing- When should Depreciation be charged??

Timing of charging depreciation would, to a great extent, depend upon the policy of the organisation. However the popular practice is that Depreciation on an asset is charged:

a. at the year end or
b. at the time of disposal of asset
whichever is earlier
